It's been a bit of an emotional roller coaster the last couple of days. When we left the hospital, Ian's bilirubin count (measuring for jaundice) was right on the upper level. They had us go back two days later to get it checked again. It had gone up pretty high, so we had to readmit him to the hospital. We ended up staying for three more days. I was pretty emotional at first, even knowing that the condition really isn't too serious if it's treated. It was just really sad to see our little guy hooked up to monitors, wearing little sunglasses, and caged in an isolette for three days. Luckily, I could hold him to nurse every 2-3 hours. Staying at the hospital was a bit draining, but he was released last night. He still has a bili blanket, which is has to lay on all day until the doctor says other wise. We also have to get his blood checked every day, so that's a bit of a bummer. We're just so thankful that he is otherwise healthy. Now we're trying to adjust to life at home. I'm so thankful my mom is here to help out. She cooks, cleans, does laundry, and even buys me Starbucks.
On a happier note, I somehow lost 30 lbs in 1 week. I think a great deal of it was the water weight I had gained in my feet and ankles from swelling, but I was pretty shocked when I got on the scale this morning and found I was within 10 lbs of my pre-pregnancy weight (which is all in my tummy, I think).
Here's a cutie pic of Ian. You can check out more on facebook if you'd like.
